As some up-market automakers struggled to recapture their former glory years following World War II, Cadillac emerged as the leader in the luxury market. For 1949, the series 62 was set apart fromthe other models by trim. The frontfender stone shields and rocker panel moldings were grooved, the hood line was stretched and, with the goddess ornament moved forward, it provided the 1949 Cadillac with an even longer sleeker look.A new Cadillac grille graced the entire front end, on to the fenders and around to the wheel openings for a lower, wider stance.
